PUSH always eats its own! – The Night of Power

PUSH always eats its own!

A picture speaks a thousand words. What does this picture say? This is a photo from an event at PUSH called “The Night of Power” in 2019. There was a lot of support at the time for PUSH Buffalo and a lot of power in the room. It was a big fundraiser for what at the time was called the “PUSH Street Team”. The Street Team was a group of PUSH youth organized to build power for and to help their community. It was a pretty successful undertaking, but then something happened. What happened to the PUSH Street Team? What happened to the PUSH Grant Street Neighborhood Center, PUSH’s original drop-in community center? What happened to PUSH’s worker Hiring Hall? Half of the people in this photo quit, were forced out, or were cancelled. What happened to them!? What in the in the hell happened to all the power that PUSH had? Don’t ask Clarke Gocker PUSH’s ‘Policy and Strategy’ Director because he doesn’t know. We’ll follow up on all of these things, but for now for those that know, let this image sink in for a while.
